Sandpoint was amazing!
We had an amazing vacation, the campsite was set in a forest by a lake in the mountains. the lake was small and it was only a 7km bike ride around the whole thing.
At night they had junior ranger programs for the kids, they taught the kids about wildlife and played games and made crafts. My girls really enjoyed that.
We could not get over the fact that it was only $12 (6 pounds for you Brits!) a night to stay there, showers were free and the kids programs were free, the rangers kept the campsite really clean and tidy how do they make money??
We biked the lake twice, the 1st time we followed the walking path and ended up pushing our bikes over fallen trees and roots, we got to see an owl, it was pretty amazing it kept flying ahead of us and then watching where we were going, its wingspan must have been at least 2 m. The second time we took the right path but we ended up following bear tracks in the dirt for over 200m, it was pretty scary as the tracks were fresh. The girls and I would not go again for fear of seeing one even closer! Dee was getting annoyed with me calling out and making a noise, but after we saw the tracks she changed her mind and joined in ! lol On the last day there was a moose just chilling out in the lake, that was pretty amazing to see too.
I worked out at the campsite a couple of time, just body weight exercises. Eating was OK but we did drink a few beers everynight. Im home again and im back on track! We were in a group of about 14 families and there were about 30 kids there, it was great to meet new people and share stories around the campfires at night.
I have 24 hours till my mum gets here, i cant wait to see her its been 2 years. I have about 20 loads of washing to get through, thats the problem with staying in a remote campsite there isnt laundry so you have it all to do when you get home.
Ill try to get some photos added later today.
